Corinth Hometown Christmas

Thanks to the Village of Corinth and local merchants we enjoyed a festive Hometown Christmas Celebration. Children laughing and racing for holiday treats, was the site to be seen as the parade pranced down main street. Fire truck sirens, horse drawn carriages and Mr. and Mrs. Claus greeted each child with wonder for the holiday season. With Christmas carols ringing in the crisp winter air and fireworks lighting up the skies, it was sure to many that the Christmas season has begun. A parade, fireworks, and tasting from Corinth Wine and Liquor were a few of the many events of the day. Below are a few of the sites we saw.

Corinth's very own Ledge Rock Hill Winery wines with owner Gary Akrop.
My absolute favorite is the Cabernet Sauvignon.

A quiet end to the evening by our Christmas tree with a bottle of Cabernet and
Cabin Fever Maple Whiskey.

Red and White and Sparkles All Over!

I have been so excited to decorate for the new Christmas season. My inspiration this year came from a set of gorgeous red birds and silver reindeer I bought last Christmas season. Anything I have found that sparkles or is red and white, continues to build upon the few surfaces my little 3 year old son can't reach!

Paper and Crystal garland I made to hang in the kitchen and living room.

Hard Candy Jewels Part 2

I mentioned in a previous post that I had trouble making hard candy jewels. After giving myself a few days reprieve from the endless attempts, my perseverance led to round five! I was hoping to make pink gems, but I got a little heavy handed with the food coloring and ended up with rubies. Although the red rubies did not match the rest of the decor (pink, teal and purple), they were yummy and adorable.

I used the extra hard candy syrup and made some decorative pieces to add to the side of the cookie dish.

I also made a heart for the cake. I think I will endlessly use hard candy to decorate!

Vintage Bottles and Poison

I just completed a very fun project for a client. I found some vintage bottles and designed labels of varying different poisons. They just happen to be a selection of the many poisons found in cigarettes. Looking forward to see these props in the film that my client is developing this fall!

Hard Candy Jewels

So, I am planning my daughters 6th birthday. I bought a mold to make hard candy jewels. What little girl wouldn't want diamonds on her cupcakes? Four attempts to make the jewels and I am settling with amber.

We intended to have diamonds and purple frosting, but my daughter enthusiastically settled for amber and white frosting. Not what I was hoping for, but still turned out in the end!

How to make the hard candy jewels:

1. Boil equal parts sugar and water
2. Heat until 300 degrees
3. Pour into greased molds or swirl onto a greased sheet of foil

Sucker for Chevron

Lately I just can't get away from the Chevron stripe. I would take it in any color, on a pillow, on the wall, as a dress! It's so simple and yet I can't get enough!

Mission Accomplished!

I made them! I have completed three necklaces and I just can't stop... Last month I found the best garage sale ever and I walked away with a handful of vintage necklaces. My mission was to re-bead and re-design. My favorite part about these reclaimed vintage necklaces are their clasps.
Check out the pictures below!

Two strands of irregular-shaped, silver pearls.

A beautiful pearl clasp
Five strands of muted pearls

I felt like switching up the regular pearl necklace by adding colorful beads of different shapes and sizes.

Once again, a gorgeous clasp!

This necklace uses two costume jewelry roses and a glass, czechoslovakian apple-green bead.

Which is your favorite!

Jackpot!

I am a garage sale junky! I have been looking for brooches all summer and have had disappointment after disappointment. Not today! I have more brooches and necklaces than one woman should have. Now I need to get enough nerve to design my brooch necklace that I have been waiting a long time for.

Here are a few of my favorite finds!
